Day Eight - Tampa

I wake up well before my alarm and can do my yoga on the balcony as we slip back into Tampa.  We get our act together early enough to finally have breakfast in the dining room.  How civilized!  Coffee is poured, breakfast orders are taken and delivered.  Of course there aren’t all the choices available at the buffet;  but the vegetable fritatta is very nice.  Diana still can’t get her GF bagel, of course;  but she gets GF toast, cream cheese and smoked salmon for her breakfast sandwich!








After breakfast we return to the cabin and gather the last of our belongings.  The staff needs to prepare for the incoming cruisers, so we vacate and go back to the Guest Services desk.  The young lady says she’ll check the safe and is gone quite a while.  Apparently it’s a huge, walk-in safe!  She returns with three envelopes of bracelets;  but none are mine.  Glad it wasn’t my favorite, hand-made one!





They have been calling groups of people to debark by color.  We aren’t scheduled to leave until 9:30 but well before that they call for everyone else.  That’s us!  We’re off the ship easily and find our luggage with all the other red tags.  Passport control is a breeze and a driver’s license is really all you need.  We maneuver our bags down the sidewalk and Dan is waiting for us with our chariot!  There’s a cop chatting with him who says Dan’s been waiting for hours!!  Glad he let him stay!  It was really only about ten minutes and with all the possible variables, I think that’s pretty amazing!





We’re going to be REALLY early to church, so Dan drops me off at home.  I have about half an hour to clean up after Floofen (!) and get to church in plenty of time for Flower Communion.  Life is back to normal!!  Welcome home!  The day continues with the Belmont and Jones concert, which is as wonderful as ever, and after that I have been invited to Stu’s for dinner!!  Now that’s a welcome home!!

Thursday, April 4, 2019 Another morning aboard ship.  I had thought that since we were heading northward, I’d miss sunrise – but not so!! The morning routine ensues – yoga and photos on the deck, quiet dressing, and blogging while Diana sleeps blissfully through it all.  I have time to almost finish yesterday’s entry before she’s dressed and ready to.  Yay! The Alexander;  locals have taken the metal for their own purposes. One of the possible excursions.  Sure. Up to breakfast and we find HBEs this morning, and a spot for two at the end of a six-top with only two other people!  On the way back from getting my coffee (I’m really liking the decaf café con leche) I spot Tobi and Dean.  They went down this morning and talked to the excursion desk about Tobi’s mobility and heat issues and decided against going with us on today’s adventure.  They will have made the right decision. Day Seven - Sea Day

Saturday, April 6, 2019 There has been a constant kerfuffle with the time.  One day we set the clocks back an hour, another day they go back yet another hour.  Another day they go forward.  It’s very strange. Usually a ship tells you to just stay with ship time and not ask anyone ashore what time it is!  That’s much easier!  I just left my phone on Tampa time, which is also body time, after three weeks of adjusting to Daylight Saving Time. All that is to say that we aren’t sure what time it is when we head to breakfast.  It’s also complicated by the fact that we had used wifi on shore and now my phone is confused.  We are supposed to see ship time on the Rotterdam’s intranet website, the Navigator.  And that’s fine but you have to come off the site and go back on, for it to change the time.  Long and short of it is that we get to the dining room for our first breakfast there after they have stopped serving!  Oh well, back up to the Lido deck!
