Testing Testing

So, the internet was prohibitive on the cruise;  I'm posting these entries after the fact.  Here are the basics -

It's the annual "family" cruise with Tobi and Dean, Ma, Maureen, and Robin.  This year, though, we also have Diana and Paulette!  The more the merrier!  It's an eight-day / seven-night cruise on Holland America's MS Rotterdam, leaving from Tampa.  We left on Sunday morning, March 31st and returned on the following Sunday morning, April 7th.  It turns out that after our cruise there will be one more just like it and then the ship will go to Europe for refitting.

Now for the blow-by-blows!!

Day Eight - Tampa

Sunday, April 7, 2019 I wake up well before my alarm and can do my yoga on the balcony as we slip back into Tampa.  We get our act together early enough to finally have breakfast in the dining room.  How civilized!  Coffee is poured, breakfast orders are taken and delivered.  Of course there aren’t all the choices available at the buffet;  but the vegetable fritatta is very nice.  Diana still can’t get her GF bagel, of course;  but she gets GF toast, cream cheese and smoked salmon for her breakfast sandwich! After breakfast we return to the cabin and gather the last of our belongings.  The staff needs to prepare for the incoming cruisers, so we vacate and go back to the Guest Services desk.  The young lady says she’ll check the safe and is gone quite a while.  Apparently it’s a huge, walk-in safe!  She returns with three envelopes of bracelets;  but none are mine.  Glad it wasn’t my favorite, ...

Day Five – Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Honduras

Thursday, April 4, 2019 Another morning aboard ship.  I had thought that since we were heading northward, I’d miss sunrise – but not so!! The morning routine ensues – yoga and photos on the deck, quiet dressing, and blogging while Diana sleeps blissfully through it all.  I have time to almost finish yesterday’s entry before she’s dressed and ready to.  Yay! The Alexander;  locals have taken the metal for their own purposes. One of the possible excursions.  Sure. Up to breakfast and we find HBEs this morning, and a spot for two at the end of a six-top with only two other people!  On the way back from getting my coffee (I’m really liking the decaf café con leche) I spot Tobi and Dean.  They went down this morning and talked to the excursion desk about Tobi’s mobility and heat issues and decided against going with us on today’s adventure.  They will have made the right decision. Day Six - Costa Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Friday, April 5, 2019 I’m in my usual routine with yoga on the balcony but today we’re pulling into Costa Maya along with the other 15,000 cruisers, and as we approach our berth I play a game of Beat the Clock, since I’m in my jammies!  Turns out we’re the furthest out, so I needn’t have worried! We have both been here before, so we haven’t booked an excursion.  We just get down to breakfast while there are a few stations still open;  but they have that lovely oatmeal with fruit in the little dessert-looking cups and fruit and today I experiment with the omelet station.  There is salmon as one of the choices and lots of veggies, and my version of café con leche completes the meal. Woohoo!  I caught the light!! Look at the Peter Max decor on this hull!!
